A brief analysis of titanium used in chemical industry in China

In the next few years, the Chinese mainland titanium market for chemical industry will still occupy the dominant position in the Chinese mainland titanium market, and the Chinese mainland titanium market for chemical industry has a very broad prospect.

In the past nine years, China's chemical industry has used about 70, 000 tons of titanium, slightly more than China produced in 2009 and 2010 combined.

According to him, the titanium used in chemical industry in China mainly includes chlor-alkali, soda ash, vacuum salt making, petroleum chemical fiber, fine chemicals and inorganic salts.

The earliest and largest user of titanium in the chemical industry is the chlor-alkali industry. In the chlor-alkali production, titanium equipment and pipelines account for almost a quarter of its weight.

Based on a 10,000-ton device with a titanium content of about 6 tons, the ionic membrane caustic soda is expected to have a new capacity of 6 million tons in 2011, with an estimated consumption of 36 million tons of titanium, and an estimated new capacity of 200 tons in 2012, with a titanium content of 1,200 tons.

In terms of soda ash, 3 tons of titanium are needed for each 10,000 tons of ammonia and alkali method, and 5.45 million tons of titanium are needed for the ammonia and alkali method, a total of 1,635 tons of titanium are needed. Every 10,000 tons of titanium is needed for the alkali pair method, and 6.55 million tons of titanium is needed for the alkali pair method in the next three years.

In terms of vacuum salt production, according to the newly added 3.65 million tons of vacuum salt production capacity in 2011, the titanium amount used for vacuum salt production in 2011 was about 600~900 tons.

In terms of PTA(pure terephthalic acid), the PTA plant in mainland China is currently 16 million tons/year, and the PTA plant under construction is 6.9 million tons/year, and the titanium content will reach 3000~3500 tons/year.

At the same time, in fine chemicals and inorganic salts and titanium dioxide industry expansion, will also account for a large proportion of titanium consumption.

"Emerging markets for chemical titanium have been emerging in recent years, with the growth of chlor-alkali, soda, PTA and other industries, as well as the expansion of individual project scale in various industries, and the progress of China's titanium processing technology at the same time promoting the development of China's titanium for chemical industry to a deeper and broader field," he said.
